I’m joining the blognation

blognation home pageIf you are plugged in to the UK technology start up scene, and attend networking events like Saul Klein’s OpenCoffee Club , then you will have heard of Sam Sethi’s blognation, which launched on the 1st of July. If you haven’t then let me explain.

At the moment the web’s coverage of new technology and interesting start up companies tends to be very US, or even Silicon Valley centric. Many exciting companies from Europe in Germany, or France or Italy don’t get much of a look in, because they are rarely talked about in the English language. UK companies are slightly better off, because we almost speak the same language as our US friends, but some of the same problem still applies and they often don’t get the credit or attention they deserve. Sam’s idea is to create a global blog network with the emphasis outside of the US, to put some focus on the UK technology scene, and provide an English language outlet to show what is going on in The Netherlands, Denmark, but also further afield in China and Argentina and the rest of the World. He’s assembled more than 16 editors so far, with a roll out plan to cover the globe in steady stages.

blognation provides news and information about new startups, entrepreneurs, consumer technology, mobile computing, and from next week they will be adding an Enterprise tab on the home screen as well. I’m pleased to report that you’ll find me there writing about enterprise 2.0 and SME issues for the site. Some of the coverage will be the latest news, and some will be more in depth analysis.

blognation example articleOne of the key things that makes the site different is that it holds a company directory. Any organisation mentioned on the site will be added in, and eventually companies will be able to maintain parts of the directory themselves. As well as holding some key links, facts and figures, the directory will link to the posts and articles related to that company. We hope that the blognation directory will grow in to a really useful resource to help you find out more about a particular start up, or a sector.

Of course I’ll carry on writing here, and with the Enterprise Irregulars, but I’m looking forward to spending more time watching enterprise and SME related start ups and technology companies.
