The future of digital image display technology - Seadragon and PhotoSynth

by @ Friday, July 13th, 2007. Filed under Social Tagging, Design, Ideas

I’ve posted several times about Jeff Han’s multi-touch screen holding the future of how we’ll be interacting with our PC’s and the Internet. The iPhone has a little of the multi-touch capability, but I’ve just seen something that might be even more impressive from a few months ago. This might be old news to some, […]

More community generated content from ThinkFree

by @ Thursday, May 10th, 2007. Filed under Business 2.0, Web 2.0, Office, Social Tagging

There is a ThinkFree branded memory stick languishing next to my coffee machine, regularly reminding me that I should take a proper look and review the product. It’s a Microsoft® Office compatible application suite comprised of word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation graphics software-all usable online and off. A few days ago I got a little […]

The wealth of networks

by @ Thursday, May 3rd, 2007. Filed under Business 2.0, Social Tagging, Strategy, Social Software

I had a great discussion over lunch on Wednesday with Euan Semple, David Tebbutt and Toby Moores. Euan was actually taking a look at a new product Toby has in stealth mode, but the talk over lunch was all to do with content, licensing, intellectual property and the way social networking, web 2.0 and “The […]

London Girl Geek Dinner update

by @ Monday, April 30th, 2007. Filed under Wikis, Social Tagging, Networking, Social Software

You might have seen my report on the London Girl Geek Dinner that I spoke at the other night. Dominic Tristram did a fine job of videoing it, whilst struggling with the background noise of a busy wine bar, and has put it up on Viddler. The other speakers were Angela Beesley of Wikia and […]

Technology and How Teenagers Think

by @ Friday, April 27th, 2007. Filed under Web 2.0, Social Tagging, Social Software

When I turned on the BBC breakfast news yesterday, I broke in to an interesting item with a 16 year old girl talking about the way teenagers use technology. She was relating how kids use SMS, or social networking sites like MySpace and YouTube to interact. She said that parents might think their kid was […]

Salesforce corals unstructured content with Koral

by @ Tuesday, April 10th, 2007. Filed under Web 2.0, Collaboration, CRM, Social Tagging, CMS

ZDNet, the WSJ and others are reporting a very interesting move by Salesforce.com. They’ve acquired a 9 person web 2.0 firm called Koral that I met at last year’s Office 2.0 conference. Mark Suster, their founder and CEO has become General Manager of Salesforce Content in the move.
When I saw it last year I said:

“Koral […]

Blogtronix - a great enterprise 2.0 collaboration and web publishing platform

About 4 weeks ago I wrote up a few preliminary thoughts on Blogtronix, following a long, late night (for me!) session with George Athannassov and John West, but I’ve finally had time to do a fuller write up. One of the frustrations of the current web 2.0 and enterprise 2.0 world is that there are great […]

Ten questions on marketing in the new web

by @ Tuesday, December 5th, 2006. Filed under Web 2.0, Marketing, Blogging, Social Tagging, Internet

Guy Kawasaki has a great post you should read if you are interested in the current dynamics of marketing on the web - Ten Questions With Jackie Huba and Ben McConnell (although it’s extra value, because there are actually 12 questions for the price of 10).  Jackie Huba and Ben McConnell are promoting their latest […]

Blogtronix - I’ll give it five

by @ Thursday, November 23rd, 2006. Filed under SaaS, Business 2.0, Web 2.0, Blogging, Collaboration, Wikis, Social Tagging, Intranets, Enterprise, Irregulars

Elsewhere Dennis, in his inimitable fashion, pronounced that Blogtronix was the “dog’s nuts”.  After a two hour session on the product last night with George Athannassov I have to concur - I’ll give it five (out of 5, does anyone remember things like Juke box jury?).  I’ve made loads of notes, and plan a proper […]

The MySpace generation and the accounting profession - do they intersect?

by @ Thursday, November 9th, 2006. Filed under Business 2.0, Web 2.0, Accounting, Social Tagging, Irregulars

Over at AccountingWEB, they reported a survey by the Independent Association of Accountants Information Technology Consultants (IAAITC) which suggests that majority of accountancy practices are failing to embrace technology which could benefit their new and existing clients.  AW says that the survey: “found only a tenth of firms promoted their websites, while […]
